Our Year 4 Curriculum Overview

Term 5 - Living Things

We chose a sunny afternoon to go on a leaf collection.

We were looking for a variety of leaf shapes to sort and classify. e.g. tooth edged leaves, simple leaves and leaves with leaflets!

Once we had collected 4 or 5 different leaves, we returned to the classroom to create a sorting diagram.

Thursday 17th February - Archie Project

Today, we paid our first visit to Oriel Lodge. We enthusiastically sang the project's theme song 'Colourful Archie' to the residents from the garden!

The residents LOVED it and were soon joining in waving and smiling.

Read our thoughts about this inspiring visit.

"I felt like the residents were really happy and cheerful as ever.  I felt excited when I was dancing." Evie

"I felt so happy and excited. I really wanted to talk to them. I was so pleased to see them smiles and I loved the singing. I loved seeing Jude's neighbour and to know that she remembered him."

Edith

"I felt happy when we were signing. I felt excited when Caroline was joining in."

 Iuli

"When we got there, I felt nervous. At the end I felt emotional and sad, but happy sad!."

Harry

"I felt happy when we arrived, overjoyed when we were singing and a little bit sad when we left."

Eilidh

"I felt happy because I saw someone I knew."

Reuben

" I felt happy, relaxed and energetic. I felt pleased to meet them."

Ava

"When I first saw the residents waving at us from their lounge, I felt very emotional. I wondered whether this was the first time that they had seen a large number of children at the home or even heard children singing for a very long time. It was a very memorable and moving experience for us all."
