Erasmus+

Sadly, due to Covid 19, we were unable to carry out the activities linked to March's Project Meeting at the Spanish school.

Erasmus + has been able to grant us a one year project extension to hopefully make this happen later in 2021.

October 2019 Erasmus Updates

Hello and welcome to our new project - Green Fingers for a Brighter Tomorrow!

Over the next two years we will embark on a new journey to explore the environment.

As we all know the environment is important to all of us and we need to educate our children not just for now but for future generations. This means we need to continually expose pupils to the wider environment and hopefully make them far more aware. There are many environmental concerns, threats and underlying dangers in the world we live in.

So we are planning to involve the pupils, staff, the local community and environmental organisations to help us in our quest for sustainability. The key to this is environnmental education and some of the areas we will be investigating, through a series of educational discoveries, presentations and visits will be:

Water - source of life, uses, water shortage, water pollution

Earth- problems, deforestation, endangered species

Air - air pollution, the greenhouse effect, global warming

I'm sure it will be a very interesting and stimulating project!

Theme: EARTH - A cross - curricular approach

The main focus of the week was to share environmental ideas and challenges relating to EARTH. This was based upon 5 themes: problems, earth-related issues, deforestation, endangered species and rules. The aim was for each partner being responsible for the delivery of a lesson based upon one of these themes using a holistic, cross-curricular and problem solving approach.

The aim of the lessons was to make the students aware of the importance of human responsibility in tackling these important environmental issues, making them realise the importance of getting involved and to develop long-term behaviours.

Erasmus Days

15th - 17th October 2020

Erasmus Days gave us the opportunity to promote and celebrate the benefits of staff and pupils' participation in the Erasmus program.

Each of our 'Green Finger' partner schools shared each of the other partners' environmental campaigns to its pupils.

Staff who have benefited from the program also took the opportunity to share their experiences of Erasmus with their pupils.

C5 Spain - A Photographic Montage

Online Spain Program of the Project 'Green Fingers for a Brighter Tomorrow'

C5 gave the partners the ‘virtual’ opportunity to observe the Spanish school. This is a school that was already implementing a wide range of successful environmental education (EE) systems and had already adopted a daily holistic environmental approach.

Partners reflected, with their teams, upon their own practice and discussed ways to look forward and utilise some of the new methods and approaches that they had seen to ensure that EE was embedded into everyday practice.

Again, as in previous visits, partners considered other opportunities that could develop new themes in their own school, helping students adopt new attitudes and encourage them to take positive action, thereby making a greater impact, not only in the school but within the wider community.
