COVID-19 update – 19/03/20

Dear Parents and Carers,

Please read to the end!

Current Government advice

The core Government advice regarding self-isolation has not changed since 17/03/20.

Current advice can be found here:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance/stay-at-home-guidance-for-households-with-possible-coronavirus-covid-19-infection)

Please continue to use the absence lines or emails to let us know if your child(ren) are not going to attend school. Please include the name of the child(ren), year group(s), details for absence and the length of absence. If you email, please title the email ‘Pupil Absence’.

Importance update on school absence

Some parents have chosen not to send their child to school, understandably, based on individual family circumstances.  We understand every family will need to make choices based on their own position.  We fully support this approach and we will not take any action against families choosing not to send their children to school – although school will remain open to all our children.

In previous emails we have explained what children can do if they are now at home now.

Supporting Key workers and vulnerable children

The Government announced yesterday that schools should attempt to organise provision to support children of ‘key workers’ and the most vulnerable.

We are waiting for further Government advice this morning and will email families ASAP. Please keep checking your email this morning as we will require a quick turn around response from you.

Home Learning Packs

If you have not collected or received your ‘Home Learning Pack’ these can be picked up from the relevant school office today.

You can collect this yourself or a friend can do this for you. If you have no way of collecting this pack, please contact the office and we will try and arrange delivery for you.

Microsoft 365

A paper letter was sent home yesterday with details of how you and your child(ren) can log into Microsoft Office 365.

The ‘log in’ allows you to access and use the Office 365 package (e.g. ‘Word’ and ‘PowerPoint’) to create documents and you can start using it from today. Have fun!

We may decide to implement Microsoft Teams in order for teachers to interact and collaborate online with children and more information will be sent via email as required – please do not use Microsoft Teams at this time.

If you didn’t receive a paper letter, please collect it from the relevant school office from today (Thursday 19th March), or send in a friend/ family member to collect it for you.

Please log onto this platform before Friday and let us know if you have any problems ASAP.

Staffing

At the time of writing this email we have had some staffing absence but have made arrangements and the organisation of both schools remains the same.

We will update parents if this situation changes.

Ongoing Communication

We want to ensure that communication between school and families is as clear, regular and detailed as possible in this difficult and unprecedented time.

I will email again tomorrow with further updates.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for all your understanding and continued support during this time.

Mr Beament
