School update - Home Learning

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope the first week at home has been good, you have enjoyed the sun and managed to get some fresh air.

This is just a quick email to share some information about home learning with you.

Our ‘Home Learning’ website page

This can be found here: https://www.stsavioursbath.co.uk/home-learning/

A handy video of how to use it can be watched here: https://youtu.be/LGJQt2C7VrI

Home Learning Menus

Home Learning Menus will be uploaded daily from today (Monday 30th March) on the Home Learning year group pages.

They will be available by 10am each day (term time only). These are here for you to download and use with your children.

They are explained in more detail in the video linked above.

Please don’t put pressure on yourselves or your children to complete lots of work at home. Build a timetable that works for you and your family. It will be different to other families and that is fine.

There will be NO online work set over the two weeks planned Easter break. To protect staff workload and to ensure they have a good break too, they will not be accessing Teams during this time.

However, there is still lots to do if you want to keep the children entertained and learning while you are at home. We suggest taking part in the ‘Whole School Projects’ on the Home Learning Page, logging onto TTRockstars/ NumBots or visiting the ‘Other useful resources’ section at the bottom of our home learning page.

 Microsoft Teams

Please log in to Teams. You can do this via your desktop, a phone app or tablet.

We have published rules and information for the children to follow. Please read this with them and make sure they understand: click here

If you don’t have your Teams login, please email the appropriate school (email addresses below) and we can send it to you. You can message teachers directly and ask questions, a video to help you with Teams will be coming soon.

Some changes to how we use Teams

As we have started to develop the way we use ‘Teams’, we have been reflecting on how it is working and how we can make it better. This week your children will start to see some changes including:

  1. Teams discussions will be turned off between 7pm and 7am
  1. Teachers will be able to mute individuals, or whole classes, for a period of time, if they feel it is appropriate to stop the discussion.  e.g. if they want to encourage children to go and read, instead of typing into Teams.

We have some other changes we would like to implement that we will share once we have had feedback from our IT support service at the Trust.

Keeping in touch

Over the coming weeks, we will be looking to keep in touch with our school community in a variety of ways. We may be chatting with some children on Teams and/ or making occasional phone calls to families and children, just to check in and see how you are getting on. We look forward to hearing about all the fun things you have been doing at home with your families.

Thank you for your continued support and please ‘Stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives!'

Best wishes,

Mr Beament
