St Saviour's Church Schools

Weekly Roundup – Junior School

What a busy week at the Juniors! Jubilee picnic, Green Day and … an Ofsted Inspection!

Ofsted

Firstly, thank you so much for your support during our inspection. We were blown away by the treats, cards and kind messages which came flooding in throughout the week– these really helped to keep the whole team’s energy levels high 😊 Thank you also to everyone who completed the survey on Parent View, and who took time to speak directly with the Inspector. Click here to see some of the results of the parent survey – we are so pleased that you, our community, feel happy and safe at school - this is our most important job.

The Inspection involved the whole school community including our fantastic team of Governors, members of the Trust and of course, our fantastic colleagues at the Infants whose support was invaluable to the Junior team. A special thank you goes to St Saviour’s Church who have given each child a small treat to say, “Thank you for being you,” and to Tim from SG Forest school, who brought forward his planned gardening session at the Juniors. He appeared as if by magic on Monday evening to make sure the learning environment was looking at its best for our special visit. Thank you everyone.

We were very proud of the children and their attitudes, behaviour learning throughout the inspection, as we always are! We were really pleased that the Inspector got to experience typical days of fun, laughter and learning at the Juniors – including a Jubilee picnic complete with party hats! We will look forward to sharing more detailed information with you about this inspection once we received written information from Ofsted (this could be a couple of weeks).

Jubilee Picnic

We celebrated the Jubilee in style on Tuesday with a picnic lunch, party hats and regal bunting! Thank you to Kai and Jake in the kitchen who did an amazing job matching everyone up with the right picnic components for their lunches 😊 You can see pictures of the Jubilee celebrations here. Sadly, Kai will be ending his work at the Junior School today, and so we gave him thank you cards and a gift in assembly. We will really miss him, his kind, caring approach, and his delicious dinners! Wishing you all the best Kai in the future - thank you for everything you have done for us during your time at the Juniors.

Green Day

On Monday, the children chose to donate money raised today to Greenpeace. Find out more about this here. We have been doing some interesting activities for Green Day:

Year 3 have been focussing on ‘the plastic problem’

Year 4 have focussed on palm oil, using the book, ‘There’s a Rangtan in my Bedroom’ as a stimulus

Year 5 have been designing sustainable homes for the future – we saw these in praise assembly today

Year 6 shared the work of Mohammed Rezwan and his floating education system
