St Saviour's Church Schools

Weekly Roundup – Junior School

This week we have been so busy! We have been marking ‘Mental Health Week’ with lots of different activities. Find out about the theme of Mental Health Week here and about our launch assembly here. I was so impressed with the children’s thoughtful ideas and knowledge about how they could help each other that were shared during this assembly (you can see these ideas written on the posters in the pictures).

Children have been carrying out activities in class linked to this theme. Find out what Year 5 have been learning about here and what Year 4 have been learning about here. In assembly today, we shared our learning based around this mental health. Year 6 told us about the book they have been reading, ‘The Truth Fairy’ by Matt Haig, and shared with us all one of the main messages of the book: it is important to know sad to know happy too. A great message to keep in mind.

On Tuesday this week, we welcomed visitors from the School for Inspiring Talents in Devon to see our OPAL play and learn more about our whole class guided reading. They were so impressed with what they saw, and said, “St Saviour’s is really nurturing. The children were so kind, friendly and welcoming to us – we loved being offered snacks in the mud kitchen and joining in with four square games.” Well done everyone.
