Weekly Round Up

Dear Parents and Carers

Weekly roundup and Key dates

We have been super proud of our Year 6 children this week. They have been amazing, demonstrating resilience and determination. All the children tried their very best and we were so impressed with how they applied the strategies that they have been taught to tackle the different papers. A huge well done to all the children for the hard work they have put in.

The teachers were supportive and did what they could to make us happy. We had biscuits after each test and went to the back fields on the last day. Sadie

It was a fun experience and I would not mind doing it again.  Aster

All the teachers were supportive, and it made me feel very excited.  Amelia.

I thought it was going to be intense, but it wasn't, and I had lots of company which made me happy.  Karter.

Enterprise day

Thursday afternoon the junior top playground became a hive of activity. The Year 5 children used their knowledge about persuasive writing to create persuasive pitches for their pop-up shops.  They had to work as a team to create a shop idea which was based around their market research.  In Maths they worked out their costing and adapted their plans to make the maximum profit.

The children have put a huge effort in to making this successful and raised a whopping £389.79 on the afternoon.

There were shops with lots of lovely items to buy such as homemade clay mushrooms, grow your own water cress sets, frog cake pops, Loom bands, hair scrunchies, stress balls, slime, Welsh cakes and much more. The top profit makers were Lily, Bea, Sky and Seren who made a total of £84.97!! Well done guys and well done to all the Year 5 for their team working, market planning and creativity that went into their stalls.

Mrs Simpkins said, ‘What impressed me most this year was how imaginative the stalls were! There was a wide selection of stalls, selling, toys, games and other creative items alongside the very popular cakes, and drinks.’

I really enjoyed the money element because it was good training for the future. We also enjoyed the setting up and selling of our products and it was a really good social event. Sky Y5

It was a really great experience and I loved working with my team because it meant that we could thrive. I’m so pleased that we won, I didn't think we would. Seren Y5

Infants OPAL

Joanna has been working hard with the children to further enhance our OPAL play offer at the Infants as we head towards our reaccreditation in July. This week our refined Play Zone rules have been agreed and relaunched in each of the playground areas. You will see these displayed in each area. We have a new dressing up box, a Peace Garden Trolly and opportunities for water play.

We pride ourselves at St Saviours on the quality of our play provision understanding the rich learning opportunity that children experience through play; including team building, cooperation, imagination, gross motor development and supervised risk taking.

I have enjoyed playing in the gardens, finding nature and looking at it. I’ve also liked playing with the water. Saoirse Rose Y1

I made a traffic jam with the playpod things and my friends – Posey Y2

I’ve been climbing, playing in the Willow Garden and on the bikes. - Rhudi YR
