Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)
Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)
At the St. Saviour’s Schools we recognise that many children will experience difficulties of one sort or another during their time with us. These difficulties may be in the area of learning or may be social or emotional. We aim to work closely with parents and carers to identify any difficulties quickly and to support both the child and their family to help them to overcome these difficulties.
Where children have special educational needs, that is: if they have a learning difficulty which calls for special educational provision to be made for them, that provision will be ‘additional to and different from that which would normally be provided in the classroom’.
Mrs Sara Hibbs is the SENCO across the Infants and the Juniors. Sara works closely with the teachers and teaching assistants to identify those children who are in need of additional support and in ensuring that these children receive the differentiated provision and additional support they require to make good progress.
If you are concerned about your child’s learning, your first conversation should be with your child’s class teacher as they work with your child on a day-to-day basis and therefore know them best.
