Weekly Round Up Term 6 Week 7
Dear Parents and Carers,
Weekly roundup and Key Dates
This last full week has been packed with emotion, celebration, and memorable moments that truly showcase what makes our school community so special.
Last week, we welcomed SARI (Stand Against Racism and Inequality) for an assembly and workshop, which provided our pupils with valuable learning about respect, equality, and celebrating our differences. It was wonderful to see how engaged and thoughtful our children were during these important discussions.
It was important to hear about the rights that different people have and how to make sure that everyone is treated equally. Diversity makes the world a better place. Grace, Daisy and Shivanya. Year 3 and 4
Year 2 Leavers Assembly
Our Year 2 leavers assembly yesterday showed how ready the children are for the next step in their educational journey. Every child took part and we were able to celebrate them all. The children did everyone proud as they shared their precious memories from Nursery, Reception, Year 1, and Year 2. Their singing was beautiful, their individual talents shone brightly, and by the end of it, I don't think there was a dry eye in the room. It's moments like these that remind us of the incredible journey each child takes during their time with us.
I have loved climbing trees in the Willow Garden. Maths has been so much fun at the Infants school. I am looking forward to exploring the playground at the Juniors. Reuben.
I have loved my teachers at the Infants because they have helped me with my learning. I am looking forward to playing with the two new Junior friends I have made. Frieda.
Year 6 Leavers assembly
Our Year 6 leavers assembly brought tears to my eyes again! There’s been a lot of crying this week! – Thinking back to these children in nursery and reception and seeing them grow into confident, reflective, and kind individuals. Year 6 have had a proper and fitting send-off with their amazing production, party, disco, and yearbook. Please remember that you will always be part of the St Saviours School community, and we do like to hear about how you're getting on at secondary school. Who knows, maybe we'll see you for work experience in a few years!
The residential was an amazing experience and one I will remember. I am nervous to go to my new school but a bit excited. I will really miss St Saviours. Freya
I really have enjoyed being a good role model to the year 3 children. Residential was great and I loved being with my friends. I have already made a new friend in my new school. Gisele
Mandy
We also had the bittersweet task of saying goodbye to some very special members of our school family. Mandy, who has dedicated an incredible 32 years to St Saviours, received her well-deserved sash, cards, and flowers - and yes, we made her cry! Mandy has literally been the backbone of our school, working in breakfast club and after school club, teaching across every year group including nursery, and seeing heads come and go. She always has a smile on her face, there's nothing she won't take on, and for those of you who know her, she's got all the dancing moves too! While Mandy's retirement will be a great loss to our school and we're going to miss her terribly, we appreciate that it's time for her to focus on herself and her family. She has promised that once she settles into life beyond school, she'll return to hear readers - and we have that in writing! Thank you, Mandy, for everything you have given to our whole school community over the years - you are a true star!
Louise
Louise also donned her sash after 19 wonderful years with us. She has witnessed many changes and has worked across various year groups, starting in Reception and returning to Early Years a few years ago. During her time here, Louise has made a huge impact on English, Science, Early Years, and Outdoor Learning, and has maintained our Green Eco Flag for many years. She is a creative teacher who thinks beyond the curriculum to provide interesting learning opportunities for our children. Blue Peter has probably never had so many applications from one school over the years! We wish Louise all the luck for her next adventure and thank her for everything she has done.
Mrs. Barlow
After 28 remarkable years at St Saviour’s, we bid heartfelt farewell to Mrs. Barlow. Over nearly three decades, she has taught and inspired more than 840 children and many of whom have their own children have been in her class. It is a testament to her that her former pupils still fondly recall their time with her.
Mrs Barlow has worn many hats during her time with us: Maths expert, a champion of international education through the Comenius project, an advocate for children’s sporting opportunities, and an excellent organiser.
As she embarks on the next chapter of her life, we wish Mrs. Barlow all the very best in her retirement and the exciting adventures that lie ahead.
As we close this chapter and look ahead to the summer break, I want to thank you all for your continued support and partnership. It's been a great year with lots to celebrate!
We wish you all a restful and enjoyable summer holiday - after Tuesday😃 We look forward to welcoming you all back on Thursday 4th September
Best wishes
Sophie and Mrs Lewis
