Weekly roundup Juniors

 Dear Parents and Carers,

Weekly Roundup - Junior School

World Book Day

It’s been lovely to see all of the children dressed up as their favourite book characters.  The children have been busy enjoying a variety of World Book Day activities.

“We enjoyed reading ‘We’re all wonders’ by R J Palacio. We drew pictures of ourselves and described how different we are and looked at the different ways we could be kind.” by Charlotte and Ava B Year 6.

“We read a book about someone with only one eye this made them feel very different. We then thought about what makes us a wonder. It was great to hear everybody's ideas.” Thomas A and Elana Year 3.

“We have read a few different books this morning and made a pop up scene from one of the books. It was fun making the pop ups that showed the message of the story. I liked all of the activities today especially having my photograph taken with my friends.” Khaliah, Shalom and Ralph O Year 5.

Dojo Legend Event

On Tuesday, we held our dojo legend event. The Animal Club came in and showed all of the children a range of animals including a python called Butterscotch, a millipede called Bob and a frog called Sarah! Other animals included a guinea pig, rabbit and a Sudanese uromastyx (who looked like a large lizard with a big belly). The legends got to hold some of the animals in the afternoon: click here for pictures. A huge thank you to FOSS who paid for this event.

Are you a scientist?

The Infant and Junior schools will be having Science Week starting 13th March. This year it falls in the same week as Neurodiversity week so we thought it would be a great opportunity to combine the two (as we all know that many scientists have neurodiverse brains, and we want to celebrate this).

The science theme is Space, and the neurodiversity theme is 'Connections'

We are looking for parents and carers who are Scientists to come and talk to the children about their jobs.

If you are able to do this (either during science week or at a later date) please let your child's class teacher know.

A message for Governors and FOSS

You have received an email from the Governors and FOSS earlier today about creating a working party to help the school community be the best it can be. If you can help in anyway, please contact Danielle on danielle.ross@stsaviours.bwmat.org.

Coming up

Parents and Carers evening: Tuesday 21st and Thursday 23rd March – more information to follow about how to book a slot.
