Weekly Roundup Term 5 Week 1
Dear Parents and Carers,
Weekly Round up and Key dates
Welcome back to Term 5 and Topics
We hope that you’ve all had a good break and feel rested and raring to go for the Summer Term. This term is a short one but action packed. We have school trips for the Infant children; we’re hosting an Inflatable Planetarium for all our children to visit; we have Year 5’s Enterprise day and of course Year 6 SAT’s for which the children have been working incredibly hard and we’re proud of all of them for their resilience and perseverance.
The children are starting to get excited by this term's topics:
Nursery – People who help us
I am looking forward to the vet coming in and showing us how to look after animals. Iris
The police keep us safe. Leah
Reception – Animals
I really like elephants. Noah
I like animals. Ava
Years 1 and 2 – Castles, Knights and Dragons
I have brought in lots of books from home about castles that we can share with the class. Emmie
I would like to learn why dragons have tails and why did the knights ride horses. Isla (year 1)
I would like to learn who was the first knight and why dragons have scales. Saoirse- Rose
Years 3 and 4 – King Arthur and Anglo Saxons
I am looking forward to making the clay models with a special clay teacher. Jennifer
I liked learning about Sutton Hoo and the boat they found. Jackson
Years 5 and 6 – Comparing Bath and Swanage
We actually went to Swanage for year 6 camp. It was so beautiful. Amelia
I think that there is more to do in Bath than Swanage. Max
Summer Fair
We shared the date for the Summer Fair with you at the end of last term. Please save the date and if you can help in any way FoSS are organising a planning meeting and have a shout out for volunteers. Messages below.
Summer Fair - Saturday 5th July, 12-2pm - Volunteers Needed
Every year a big team of volunteers comes together to plan, set up and run the Summer Fair. The more volunteers we have the bigger and better we can make it for everyone. Every little bit helps, whether it's running a stall for just half an hour or being part of the cleanup afterwards.
If you are able to help out on the day, or before, please sign up though our form -https://forms.gle/inKPGqgcMZbea7saA
We really appreciate all offers of help — big or small — and look forward to coming together once again to make this year’s Summer Fair a huge success and raising loads of money to put towards facilities and experiences for all the children of St Saviour's school.
FOSS Planning Meeting
Friends of St Saviour’s planning meeting, Thursday 1st May, 7.30-9pm at Ellie Thomas’s offices 9 St. Saviour’s Road (opposite the post office and next to Larkhall Garage- the place that had spinning classes).
Nibbles and drinks available. On the agenda: electing a new chair, making a plan for events for the rest of the year, update/ ideas about summer fair. Everyone welcome.
A group of volunteers helped to plant across both sites last term and the beds are looking great. We now want to open our Kitchen Garden at the Infants to the community to support our Eco School work. Here is a message from Louise our Eco School Coordinator
Kitchen Garden – Gardeners needed
One of the Green Teams targets for term 5 is to invite parents, carers and members of the community to help us grow vegetables in our kitchen gardens.
This is where we need your help. Would you like to use one of our vegetable beds as a family allotment to grow vegetables for yourself and the school? We are looking to turn the kitchen gardens in to an area that can be enjoyed by families and the school.
The green team were very excited about growing their own vegetables and asking the school cooks to cook them to go with their lunch.
If you would like to grow some vegetables in the infant school kitchen gardens please speak to Sophie, Mrs Lewis or Louise.
