If you enter school via the bottom gate at the Junior School, you may have noticed new and refreshed road markings. These have been installed in partnership with BANES council.

Over the last couple of years, we have been increasingly concerned with children crossing between cars and stepping out into the road when accessing the Junior School playground via Brooklease Buildings. These new road markings have been designed by the highways agency to create a clear space and a ‘line of sight’ for our children to cross safety, many of which are older children and walking to school alone.

We would like to say thank you to Joanna Wright (Green Party Councillor for Lambridge) and Cllr Rob Appleyard (Liberal Democrats) for their support with this project and also to the local residents on Brooklease Buildings. We recognised this causes some issues with more restrictive parking but appreciate your understanding and support in making this entrance more safe for our children and families.

To achieve the objective of this safer crossing it is essential that this new area is not used as a drop off or pull over space. Can I please encourage all families that need to drive to drop their children away from this entrance and allow them to walk down the road before entering the school.
