The 'Weekly Round-Up' - Infant School
The children have participated in two assemblies this week thinking about Remembrance day. In Mr Beament’s assembly they heard all about an old head teacher at St Saviours School, George Strong, who fought and died in World War 1. You can find out more here.
Children in Year 1 and Year 2 held a two minutes silence on the school playground at 11:00 on Thursday. At the end of the two minutes, when we listened carefully, we could just hear the canon being fired at Bath Abbey.
Elliot said, ‘It’s to remember the people who died in the war.’
Tom K said, ‘You can wear purple poppies to remember the animals.’
Leo said, ‘They fought for freedom.’
Otis said, ‘They fought for peace.’
Some children talked about Great Grandad’s and Great Great Grandad’s who fought or were alive in World War 2.
On Thursday we had an exciting delivery to the Nursery!
The children now have new Get Set Go blocks in their Nursery Garden. These blocks can be moved around by the children, supporting their physical, social and creative development. To see photos click here.
Murphy said, ‘Hayley look! Can you see them in our garden? They came in a van into our playground!’
Grayson said, ‘We’ve put them in a line and we climb all over them. We can go round and round!’
The Nursery was also featured in this months Bath and Wiltshire Parent. To read the article click here.
As part of our Eco schools work this week, children finished their pledges and our Power Savers have done a great job making sure that lights are turned off and energy is being conserved for Switched off Fortnight. So, another busy and fun filled week of learning at the infants school and as ever we look forward to next week and the learning and experiences it will bring!
