Weekly Roundup - Infant School

Welcome back!

I hope that you all had a good break and have returned for term 5 with renewed energy. I know that I have a springier spring in my step!

The children have returned relaxed and happy and eager to find out about their new Discovery Plans.

In Nursery the children are finding out all about Growth and their role play has turned into a Garden Centre. Ella said, ‘I like the flowers in the garden centre. I’ve been to lots with my mummy. We go to the café and have some food.’

Reception are learning about Animals and their role play has become a Pet Shop. The children are so excited about their trip to Bath City Farm next week and they have come up with some questions to ask the farmer.

‘How do you grow the crops?’ Rupert

‘Where do the animals go when it is cold?’ Harriet

‘What food do the animals eat?’ Tommy

We look forward to hearing all about their trip and the answers to these questions next week.

Year 1 and 2 are finding out all about Scientist and Inventors. They have painted pictures of some famous scientists. Click here to see them.

George said, ‘Without scientists and Inventors the world would be like the olden days and there would be lots of rats!’

Ezra said, ‘There would be no medicine.’

Amelia said, ‘There would be no electricity and that means no TV!’

Emil said, ‘There would be no medicine!’

Ask your child about who they painted and why they chose to paint them.

It is wonderful that our Caring Code spreads beyond school. Click here to see another inspired activity to raise money for Ukraine.

On a Friday we have our Celebration Assembly where we celebrate all sort of achievements. We have our Learning to Learn Awards of the week. We recognise the class with the highest attendance. We celebrate achievements out of school, for example, swimming, gymnastic, football, Rainbows, Brownies or Beavers to name a few. We also recognise St Saviours Caring Code Champions. These are children who uphold the school values in everything they do; showing kindness and understanding; respect to each other and all members of the school community; and trying their best by persevering when things go wrong, showing resilience and determination. We look forward to Australia class joining us in our Celebration Assembly soon.

Finally, it’s the Larkhall Festival this Bank Holiday weekend and there are lots of activities going on around Larkhall and Alice Park advertised on posters around the perimeters of school site and Local Look. See here for support for Alice Park.

I hope that you have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend and I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday 3rd May.

Best wishes

Sophie
