St Saviour's Church Schools

Weekly roundup – Infant School

Although it’s been a shorter week due to the Bank Holiday but you would never have guessed from the amount that we’ve crammed in!

The week kicked off with Reception’s trip to Bath City Farm. The children were buzzing before they left and buzzing on their return. Polly showed the children around.

Rob said, ‘I liked stroking the chicken.’

Polly informed us that there’s going to be a new café at the farm opening soon.

Thank you to those who were able to come and help. I bet everyone slept well that night!

In Nursery the children arrived on Monday to find a giant beanstalk with numbers.

‘Isabel said, ‘What number am I?’ She measured her height and found out that she was 4! Brooke and Maddie were excited to see that the seeds that they had planted were growing. We’ve had such fun this afternoon in the Nursery garden, camping, having picnics and doing the washing! Click here for Nursery photos.

In Year 1 children are starting to explore multiplication through repeated addition. Our approach is that we always start with the concrete, children using practical resources to explore a concept. Click here to see photos.

On Thursday the teachers had a wonderful hour looking through all children’s writing books. We were so impressed with the children’s progress from the start of the year. It was wonderful to see children taking pride in their work through their content and presentation. Click here to see writing in Reception.

The children have also been busy practising the skill of weaving and finding out facts about Edward Jenner. Click here for facts.

I hope that you all have a good weekend with the weather improving.

Best wishes
