St Saviour's Church Schools

Weekly Roundup – Junior School

This week has been lots of fun, and we have had some exciting things happening.

Junior Library

We have been working on renovating our library for a while now to create an inviting space for everyone to relax in and enjoy sharing stories and books. Our library is themed around a cosy woodland space – little parrots peek out from the wallpaper, and there are comfy woodland bean bags to sit on. This week, we had the exciting delivery of our storyteller’s chair! Even though we are making the most of this space and using it at the moment, we are not quite ready for our opening launch (we are still busy ordering some lovely new books and categorising the ones we already have and love) but wanted to show you a sneak peek. A huge thank you to our PTA who have supported funding this project, and we will be sharing more about this in advance of our launch. Click here to see pictures of the library so far.

It’s not everyday we hear from real life authors at school, but today, two authors (who our classes are named after) have seen pictures of our library and sent us some lovely messages about it. Cressida Cowell said, “Heartwarming to see a stunning new library like this one! Love to all in your school” and Onjali Rauf said, “I think the real question is, who- having once sat in that spectacular new storyteller’s chair and entered that library- is ever going to find the willpower to leave it? (Not me!) Amazing.” It was very exciting to hear the messages in Cowell and Rauf class in particular.

Dance Umbrella:

Year 6, led by Mrs Offler and Miss Noad, did a fantastic job at the Dance Umbrella on Monday. We were very proud of their efforts, and loved seeing the video of their dance. Click here to see this video.

OPAL playtimes:

We have been enjoying some lovely OPAL playtimes in sunshine and snow this week! Click here to see some pictures of a sunny playtime.

Can you help?

Please see below a message from Marc, family of the two girls who have joined us from Ukraine. (To see the lovely welcome a Year 3 child gave to her new classmate, click here.) He is looking for help for housing two families. Please get in touch with him directly if you are able to and would like to help.

"We have 2 families from Kviv, Ukraine whom are friends of two of our students who have themselves just joined us from the conflict.

These families have escaped Ukraine and are hoping to come to the UK and Bath on the Ukraine Homes for refugees scheme to be with close friends they have here already.

They are going to need a 2 or 3 bed house to stay in - to be close to their friends and join our community here - and wondered if anyone might have, or know of anything suitable for them.

The first family is a mother and her 2 daughters (aged 8 and 3) and the grandmother. The second family is mother and her two sons (aged 12 and 15) and they also have a dog.

Thank you so much for your help.”

If you know of anything please do get in touch directly with Fairfield Park resident Marc Wilson on mw@marcwilson.co.uk or 07958417845. Marc is family of the 2 girls whom have just joined us.
