St Saviour's Church Schools

Weekly roundup Juniors

Dear Parents and Carers,

Weekly Roundup - Junior School

We’ve been busy this week.

Our school values:

We started the week thinking about Empathy in assembly, and talked about how sympathy and empathy are similar but slightly different. We decided empathy is trying to understand how someone feels and imagining what it may be like to be experiencing the situation they are in, and sympathy may be when you are kind to someone when they are experiencing big feelings without imagining how they feel. We thought sometimes when you are just showing sympathy to help with a difficulty between two people, one person can feel left out. We thought about how you can sometimes be too involved with a situation to show empathy for everyone, and how at this time, it would be helpful to find someone else to help sort the situation.

Ursula did a fantastic job of acting out how she could use empathy to help two children who were pretending to be upset with each other. Well done Ursula.

SEND

Sara held 2 SEND events this week which were exploring how we support families through SEN processes at St Saviour's. She was supported by Rosie Frost and Tamsin Mooney who shared their experiences and gave some top tips. Sara will be looking to run more events like this so keep an eye out for information in the future and a big thank you to Rosie and Tamsin.

Archie Project:

The children in Year 4 have continued visiting Oriel Lodge this week as part of the dementia awareness Archie Project they are involved in this year. Mr Beament joined the children on the trip this week, and said everyone had a great time. For pictures, click here

In other news:

Last week, Year 5 were lucky enough to have a special visit from Reggi the snake! Morgan’s Mum and Morgan showed Reggi to the class and explained all about Reggi. To see pictures, click here
