  • Severe Weather

    Thu 21 Jan 2016
Although this winter has been particularly mild so far, a change in the weather recently prompts me to give a reminder of how you will be informed in the event that extreme weather conditions might force a school closure. Should this happen, you will receive an email message from the school. We will also post notices on our website (www.stsaviours-jun.co.uk) and on the B&NES website at http://www.bathnes.gov.uk/school-closures
  • Building Update

    Thu 21 Jan 2016
Just over a year ago the first ground was broken in the building project that has brought the school five new classrooms (occupied last September), a new kitchen and some significant landscaping of extended play space. The initial planting of hedging and saplings has now been done and this week we are expecting the new kitchen to start producing our school meals on-site once again, although the mid-morning tuck shop won’t be resumed just yet. It is remarkable to consider just how much has changed in that time and how, soon, the project will be completed.
  • TEMPORARY ROAD CROSSING PATROL

    Thu 07 Jan 2016
TEMPORARY ROAD CROSSING PATROL – JANUARY 2016 As part of the ongoing School Travel Plan work around the crossing arrangements at the busy Charlcombe Lane junction, there will be a temporary School Crossing Patrol in place by the Infant School main playground black gates on Worcester Buildings next to Salisbury Road for one week at the start of next term. This short pilot scheme will inform plans to broaden pavements in that location, establishing another safer place to cross our busy roads. The pilot will not affect Rose’s work at the main crossing between the Infant and Junior schools. The additional Patrol will operate from Thursday 7th January until Wednesday 13th January 2016, from 8.35 – 9.10 am and 3.10 – 3.45pm. During these times the Infant School main playground black gates will be open, as an entrance only, to allow parents and children to access the school grounds, reducing congestion and demand on the pavements closer to the Junior school. We also hope that this additional crossing and entrance will encourage families to avoid crossing Worcester Road at the unsupervised, unsafe and unofficial crossing on the corner at the top of Brookleaze Buildings (this was the site of a collision 2 years ago). To ensure the safety of young children on site the playground gate will be one-way, for entrance only. This will help to ensure that any unsupervised children do not leave through the gate. Please make sure that you do not allow any children to leave by the black gates. Once you have dropped off/collected your child please leave by the usual entrance. This pilot will be a change for existing drivers and the local community so it is very important that usual School Crossing procedures are followed: • When you arrive at the crossing, STOP, LOOK and LISTEN. • PLEASE WAIT until the Patrol is centre of the road asks you to PLEASE CROSS. • WALK near and in front of the Patrol. Looking and listening as you cross. In order to protect the sightlines for the Patrol, drivers and pedestrians, cones will be located on the highway and parking will be unauthorised at this location. Please do not try to park or slow and drop off your children as this could put the Patrol and pedestrians at risk.
