Year 5 trip to Bath Abbey and Parade Gardens
Wed 29 Jun 2022Year 5 went to Bath Abbey and Parade Gardens this week as part of their learning of Local Geography and History. They explored the changes of the Abbey, looking at it's structure from a Saxon Church through to the Tudor Abbey you see today.
Year 5 sketched features of historical significance in Parade Gardens such the remains of the Monk's Mill, the Tuscan colonnade and learnt about the structure and layout of the gardens.
It was a fun packed trip!

Painting
Wed 29 Jun 2022Year 1 and Egypt Class were using their colour mixing skills this week.
Egypt Class have created artwork inspired by Matisse creating their own abstract paintings, exploring shape and colour,
Year 1 have been inspired by Kandinsky and been focusing on colour mixing with paints.
Wonderful artwork everyone!

Team work makes the dream work!
Tue 28 Jun 2022To help the Year 6s with their upcoming transition to secondary school, they have been working with people they wouldn’t normally work with and using their team work skills to complete a challenge.
Safe to say there were lots of giggles and it got a little competitive! But some useful skills learnt for making new friends in September!

Goodbye Midnight
We said goodbye to Midnight the chicken this week – she has gone to join some friends for the summer. Chickens have been part of Junior School life for 12 years, and we would like to say a huge thank you to Ms Birkett who has been instrumental in setting up and organising the care for the chickens. Rivers in Year 5
Year 5 took their learning outside and drew diagrams of rivers on the playground. Click here to see more.
Year 5 brush monsters
Year 5 have had a brilliant time making brush monsters with some volunteer engineers. Thank you to Catherine and Mark who worked on this project with the children, and to Louise at the Infants for linking us up with Catherine and Mark. Weekly Roundup - Infant School
Fri 24 Jun 2022Well, the end of another busy week! I can’t quite believe the speed with which they are passing. We have got four more weeks left where we ramp up our focus on Transition for all our children. This week the year 2’s have started visiting he Junior school to meet and play with the Year 3 children. They had great fun exploring the different playgrounds and meeting old and new friends.
The children will have more opportunities to visit the Junior school and meet the year 3 children next week with a Buddy time and more play sessions.

Class structure next year
Next week we welcome the new Reception children for a Come and Play session where they get to come with their grownups into the Reception Garden and explore the classrooms.
We are delighted to say that we will be having two reception classes next year taking us to 5 classes plus Nursery! All class sizes will start the year around low to mid 20’s. The class structure will be the same as this year but with an additional class.

1 x Year 1/2
1 x Year 2
We will be sharing which class your child is in and their teacher prior to Move Up morning on the 7th July.
KS1 Meeting with Dr Sean Elias
On Thursday, the KS1 children had an exciting virtual meeting with Dr Sean Elias from the Jenner Institute. Dr Elias had responded to the children’s letters to Dr Sarah Gilbert asking about the Covid vaccine. He shared a presentation with the children and then answered their questions.
Evie asked, ‘How many rooms are there in your lab?’ The answer was, ‘the size of 4 – 5 classrooms and it is based at the hospital.’ Click here to see more questions and answers from the children.

A new catering provider
Fri 24 Jun 2022We are pleased to announce that we will have a new catering provider for September.
Both St Saviour's schools will have their meals provided by Chartwells. More information will be provided shortly including a data collection exercise for dietary requirements.
We would like to thank 'Edward and Ward' for their catering partnership over the last few years.

Brush Monsters
Fri 24 Jun 2022Year 5 have been engineers and making Brush Monsters.
This was a funs STEM activity led by Mark and Catherine both engineers from different fields that volunteered to lead this activity. Catherine has worked for Air Bus and Aston Martin stress testing for safety measures and Mark is working in Nuclear Fission.

Key Stage 1 meet Dr Sean Elias
Thu 23 Jun 2022Key Stage 1 children had a really exciting day and met Dr Sean Elias, from the Jenner Institute, online today for a virtual meeting.
They learnt more about scientists and vaccines and he even showed us the laboratories on a virtual tour. The children then had the chance to ask lots of questions like:
Who inspired you to become a scientist?
How do you make potions?
Why did you become a scientist?What an exciting day!

Great work in Year 2
Thu 23 Jun 2022Yesterday, Year 2 completed some amazing artwork, paintings flowers in the style of Georgia O'Keffe. The children also solved some really tricky maths problems, showing resilience and working hard to get to the solution.
