    Chinese New Year

In Monday’s assembly we talked about Chinese New Year and some of our families shared how they celebrated together. The children shared similarities and differences between special celebrations and occasions in their lives. We all shared that getting together with family, eating special food, giving gifts were all similarities.

Lyra shared that she knew that the colour red is special as it symbolises luck.

Joe shared that it is now the year of the Rabbit.

Rob shared that he enjoyed noodles with his family.

Reception were lucky to have a large donation of noodles from Hong Kong Chef. They tasted delicious.

    Elinor said, ‘They were yummy!’

Kaden agreed, ‘They tasted so good!’

Robyn added, ‘They tasted salty because of the sauce on them.’

A huge thank you to Lin, and we wish all our Chinese families in our community a very Happy New Year. Click here for photos.

  • Weekly roundup Juniors

    Tue 31 Jan 2023

This week has been another busy week at the Juniors.

    David Williams visit

This week, David Williams from the Diocese came to visit us at school. He popped into classes to see what children are learning about, and spoke to Miss Drake and Mrs Simmons about R.E, assemblies and learning at school. He was very impressed with the R.E. learning he saw in the children’s books and enjoyed hearing about the opportunities children have to be critical thinkers in ‘Question Time’ assemblies. He loved hearing about the moon landing in Year 3 and 4, and shared with us that he remembers watching the moon landing on TV (in black and white) when he was little.

    Diversity display in the foyer

The Junior School foyer is looking so lovely with a forest of diversity! Nathalie Goss, governor, has worked alongside Miss Williams and the E-Council to create this lovely display. All children have created circles which show things that are important to them, and when we put them all together, we can see what makes us all special and unique. We think it looks brilliant!

Here are some thoughts from our E-Councillors:

Reuben: It's great to look at! It shows what our school is all about.

Eleanor: I think it's a great welcome to our visitors.

Emilia: I think it shows all our personalities and how diverse we all are. If you were new to the school you could find someone to relate to!

Sam: IT shows visitors a piece of every child in the school.

Thank you to Nathalie for coming into school and painting these trees- we appreciate you giving up your time to do this. To see pictures of this lovely display, click here.
