  • Junior Weekly roundup

    Fri 21 Jul 2023

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    Weekly Roundup - Junior School

What a wonderful year it’s been and here we are at the final day!

    End of Year Assembly

We started the week with our end of year assembly. It was lovely to share the achievements of the year, sing some well known songs and say goodbye to our leavers. We will be saying goodbye to Year 6, Mrs Russell, Mrs Jacobs and Miss Evangelista.

Mrs Russell has worked with the Junior children in Year 3 and 4 this year, and has taught lots of exciting topics like the Mayans and Anglo-Saxons. Coralie said, “I liked doing sewing with Mrs Russell throughout the year.” Meredith said, “She has made lessons fun.”

Mrs Jacobs has worked at the Junior school for 7 years, and has supported so many children in her time here. She has led on the E-Team and E-Council, organising fun activities like the Bake Off to raise money for the school. Mrs Jacobs has led some lovely trips. Harry said, “I enjoyed the trip to the river Mells.” Mrs Jacobs has been so kind, patient and supportive. Thank you Mrs Jacobs.

Miss Evangelista has worked at the Juniors for 2 years, and has supported lots of children. She is very patient and will take lots of time to help children with things they don’t understand. Indy said, “Goodbye Miss Evangelista, we will miss you.”

Year 6 have worked hard and made many great achievements. We know they will go on to do great things at Secondary School. Well done Year 6.

We all wish all of our leavers all the best in their new adventures; they have been fantastic and we will miss them. For pictures of the Year 6 leavers, click here.

  • Infant Weekly roundup

    Fri 21 Jul 2023

    Dear Parents and Carers,

Last weekly roundup of the school year – Infants

What an actioned packed last week of the school years it’s been and the end to a wonderful year! Year 2 kicked the week off with their talent show that was so captivating even our youngest nursery children watched for an hour. We had football skills, gymnastics, solo singers and dancers, magic tricks and jokes and fantastic sloth facts that amazed us. Here’s a joke and a sloth fact! Click here

‘How do you get Pikachu on a bus? - You Poke him on’ Elijah

‘Did you know that sloths are 3 times stronger than humans!’ Marley

Elliot’s mum Louise, came and told us about animation. There are 25 drawings per animation! That’s amazing! It must take ages and you must need lots of resilience. The children had a go at colouring some of Louise’s drawings and creating their own. Click here

Reception have been busy creating Ocean dioramas. Click here

Otto said ‘We had to bring in a cereal box and then cut it out like a fish tank and then I found string and made a hole in it and sellotaped it to a cut out fish that I drew. It looked really good, it had real sand on the bottom.’

On Wednesday it was the Year 2’s leavers service. I’m not sure that there was a dry eye in the house after they shared memories, songs and more talents. We have loved teaching the class of 23. It has been a privilege to have seen them grow over the years, gaining confidence and finding their unique voices. We wish them all the best for Year 3 and can’t wait to see how they continue to flourish as Year 3’s.

We are also saying farewell to Louise Viner who has taught Brazil class this year. The children have thrived in her care and instruction and are happy confident children ready for year 1. Louise will be moving to another school in our Trust so we may still get to see her. Thank you, Louise and Good luck, in your new teaching position.

  • Message from our Governors

    Fri 21 Jul 2023

End of Year Message from St Saviour’s Schools LGC

As the schools Local Governing Committee we support and challenge the schools leadership team to ensure that St Saviour's provides the best school experience for all our pupils.

At the end of June we held our annual School Development Plan workshop. This was a chance for governors to spend the morning in school hearing about how the school has delivered its development priorities this year and look ahead to agree priorities for next year. You can find the school’s development plan here if you would like to find out more https://www.stsavioursbath.co.uk/school-development-plan/

The morning also gave us the opportunity to undertake a learning walk to see pupils in class, observe learning behaviours and see how the learning environment helps pupils enjoy lessons. These walks are an important part of how we ensure that the plans and activities we discuss in governing committee meetings are having an impact in practice.

    Membership

The end of the year brings changes in our governing committee membership.

Danielle Ross is standing down at the end of her term as co-chair. Her energy and enthusiasm in the role has known no bounds - from meeting OFSTED inspectors to coordinating the spring clean at the Junior School. Fortunately she will remain as part of our governing committee in other roles next year. Thank you Danielle!!

Andy Dillow will be replacing Danielle as Co-Chair. Andy is one of our foundation governors and a member of our Ethos and Resources committees. You can find out more about what motivated Andy, and all our governors to volunteer to support the school here https://www.stsavioursbath.co.uk/governors/

We also say good bye to two of our longest standing governors, Emma Nix and Hannah Holman, who have stepped down this year.

Emma has chaired our Ethos committee and been key in ensuring we capture pupils voice in our work as an LGC.

Hannah has chaired our Resources committee and been our Health &Safety link governor bringing rigour and attention to detail to this important area our the LGC’s role.

A huge thank you to both of them for their time and commitment over the years!

    New beginnings

The end of the school year is all about transitions and we wish all our Year 6 pupils the best for their next step as they join secondary school. Just as our Year 6’s have been preparing to move on our Reception teachers have been welcoming next years reception pupils into school for settling in sessions.

A big thank you to our Reception and Year 6 teachers for preparing the pupils for their new adventures in September.

Wishing everyone a fun and relaxing summer holidays.

    Amy McNaughton and Danielle Ross

Co-Chairs of St Saviour’s Schools LGC
