    Dear Parents and Carers,

What a festive week it has been. We started the week with our singing service at Larkhall Church: thank you to everyone who was able to join us. It was lovely to spend time with the Infants singing and starting to feel very Christmassy! On Monday we were also lucky enough to wake up to snow! Click here to see pictures of the snow.

On Wednesday, we wore our Christmas jumpers and enjoyed a lovely Christmas dinner! There was Christmas music, Christmas roast and the best part for some children…. No sprouts this year! Click here to see pictures of this. Special thank you to Jake and Charlotte in the kitchen who did an amazing job cooking so many delicious Christmas dinners.

On Thursday, Years 3 and 4 sang Christmas Carols for the residents of Oriel Lodge as part of the Archie Project. It was a lovely afternoon, the residents joined in singing and the teachers said how well the children did. Huge thank you to the parents that helped the children walking to Oriel Lodge and back to school.

Years 3 and 4 have also been cooking this week, and rustled up some tasty wraps! Click here to see pictures of these.

Year 6 have been busy this week too! They have visited Lifeskills in Bristol where they learnt about how to keep themselves safe in different situations. Click here to see pictures of this. Year 6 also completed in the athletics tournament this week and we are pleased to announce that they came 3rd! Congratulations to the team, and thank you to Mrs Offler and Miss Markwell who supported them. • Weekly Roundup Infants

    Fri 16 Dec 2022

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    Weekly Roundup – Infants

We’ve made it to the end of another term packed with learning, curiosity, creativity, and fun! We have also survived these peculiar artic temperatures that have enabled some of us to try sledging for the first time in the Willow Garden!

The week started the week with our visit to Church where we marched through the snow and ice to sing with the junior children. On Tuesday volunteers from the church, alongside some fabulous year 6’s came and delivered the Stable Trail. It was great fun and got us thinking more deeply about the Christmas Story. On Wednesday it was Christmas Dinner and Christmas Jumper day. Click here for photos

    Discovery Themes

The children have also loved their Discovery Topics this term.

Sylvie said, ‘ I loved learning the Nativity. I was a child in pyjamas and my favourite song was ‘Mary Mary What a Surprise’.

Luke said, ‘I made a giant map using foam and orbies. When we went around Larkhall we saw a brook and it made we think of playing Pooh sticks.

Zac said, ‘When we went around Larkhall we had a search sheet. The church was on it. We went to the church to sing.’

Juno said, ‘I know that Larkhall is in Bath and Bath is in England and England is part of the UK.’

    Physics competition

Thank you to everyone who has sent in photographs or videos of their science experiments. Louise and Claire have been so impressed with the entries. They will be sharing the winner early next term and everyone who has taken part will receive a certificate. We will also share the photos and videos with the children.

    School Council

The School Council met on Wednesday and counted the funds raised during Bedtime story. They were thrilled with the £50 that we have collected for Book Trust. The children were also pleased to have received in the post a thank you from Julian House for the food and toiletries that we collected for Harvest. The children want to say a huge thank you to everyone for supporting these events. Click here

    Farewell to Lisa

In assembly today the staff and children said a sad farewell and a huge thank you to Lisa who has been making out lunches for 9 years. We worked out that that was about 438750 lunches in total! We wish Lisa lots of luck in her new adventures.

Lastly a jolly well done to teachers, parents and carers who have done an amazing job of getting  very excited and tired children to the end of term with smiles on their faces.
