David Beckham assembly
Mon 13 Mar 2017In assembly this week we continue to discuss the important of learning from failure and purposeful practise!
We discuss how David Beckham does this
David Beckham was interviewed about this 'natural football ability' and he promptly corrected the interviewer. He was not born with the gift, he had practised for thousands of hours missing thousands and thousands of targets.
He tried and failed over and over again until he succeeded!
His success was down to his ability to keep going, keep trying and learning from failure.
We tried it in assembly!

Buddies!
Thu 09 Mar 2017This afternoon we have had a great time working with buddies from the Infants.
The Infants have been working on recycling, and so we based our activities around this theme.
Year 5 and Year 2 designed Top Trump cards and recycling board games, and Year 1 and Year 4 made useful objects out of recycled materials.
Lucy (y5) said, "I like doing buddies because I get to know new people!" and Maisie-Rae (y5) said, "I love interacting with the Year 2's and getting to know about their school!"
Jude (y2) said, "I like working with my sister and playing games."

Practice, practice, practice
Wed 08 Mar 2017In today's assembly, Mr Beament shared a theory by an author called Matthew Syed who wrote the book 'Bounce'.
After completing lots of research, Matthew Syed believed that if you practice a skill for 10,000 hours you can master it!
We worked out that 10,000 hours of practice is:
1538 school days or 15 years (of practising every weekend).
We used table tennis as an example and worked out that in this time you would miss the ball, hit the net or miss the table around 1 million times.
That is 10,000 hours of quality practice and 1 million failures to master a skill.
We concluded that practice and failure are really important on the journey to success!
