  • Infant and Junior Weekly Roundup!

    Fri 29 Sep 2023

    Dear Parents and Carers,

It’s been another busy week at the Infants and Juniors!

    Infant and Junior Learning Updates

We’ve been getting stuck in with lots of learning and have been having fun embracing our new topics.

At the Infants, Reception have been starting their new topic ‘All about me’ and have been building and creating inside and outside! Click here to see pictures.

In KS1, some children have been working hard in the Discovery room making playdough and following a recipe. They have also been meeting the Colour Monster, finding out about the colours linked to different emotions and making spoons showing different emotions (the children could make the facial expressions to match!) Mexico class have been making story maps using a key. Click here to see pictures of their maps.

At the Juniors, Year 6 have nominated their Crescent Team Captains (click here for more information) and have been undertaking scientific experiments about mould growth (click here for pictures). Year 5 led a Harvest assembly for the whole school on Thursday – we were impressed with their empathy and enthusiasm (click here for pictures). We are all very excited at the arrival of our 40 club Maths stickers. Click here for information about this.

Both the Infant and Junior schools are collecting Harvest donations for Julian House – please bring any donations of dried or tined food, unopened and with a long shelf life, to the school office.

    Stranger awareness- staying safe

It's the start of a new term and a great time to remind everyone about being safe. We will be talking about staying safe in school over the next few weeks using the 'Clever Never Goes' resources found here: https://www.safe4me.co.uk/portfolio/clever-never-goes/. We would encourage you to have conversations with the children at home about staying safe when interacting with strangers using the resources here.

    Other news:

Junior welcome event organised by FOSS (Friends of St Saviour’s Schools): After school (hopefully in the playground) on Thursday 5th October. There will be popcorn, drinks, snacks, a chance to get some second hand school uniform and meet some new people. Come along and join us!

Infant start time: Please remember that the Infant school gates will open at 8.45am and will close at 8.55am each morning.

Get well soon Sophie: Sophie is still a little bit poorly and won’t be able to be in school next week. We are thinking of Sophie all the time, wishing her a very speedy recovery and hope she is feeling better soon.

Don’t forget to subscribe to our online school calendar. Our calendar is the place where you can check for events, term dates and INSET days.
