  • Weekly Roundup – Junior School

    Fri 10 Dec 2021

What a festive week it has been! I’ve been so sorry to miss out on the festive fun whilst I’ve been recovering from COVID, but have certainly felt the Christmas magic which has been sprinkling across St Saviour’s Schools!

Year 3 have done an absolutely fantastic job with their performances of ‘There’s Only One King!’ Mr Beament has told me how wonderful their singing, acting and costumes were for every one of their performances. Very well done Year 3, and thank you to everyone at home who helped with costumes, learning lines and songs (and to the Year 3 staff who gave a little bit of help too ðŸ˜Š). You can see lots of pictures of their performances here, and the recording will go live on our website next week.

Continuing with the festive theme, we have had a visit from Santa this week! You can see some pictures of our special visitor in his grotto here – I know Santa said he felt very at home in his lovely space, and wanted to thank everyone who kindly set it up for him.

Towards the end of the week, the snow was falling and everyone enjoyed a camp fire, smores, a brass band and singing at the PTA mini Christmas Fair. A special mention goes to Kiera, who raised lots of money selling crocheted items. You can see Kiera at her stall here. Thank you also to SG  Forest School, who manned the camp fire for us, and of course, our wonderful PTA who organised everything and made it a very fun evening. You can see lots of pictures here.

    Also this week:

    • Year 5 took a trip to the Holburne Museum to learn about all things Greek – click here for pictures of their day
    • Some of the Junior children have been raising money for Dorothy house dressed as elves! Click here and here for pictures
    • For details of the Christmas events at St Saviour’s Church, click here

Finally, in advance of the final festive week of term (we are already looking forward to Christmas jumper day on Thursday, Christmas dinner, a short visit to the Church and of course, lots more festive singing), please can we remind parents and families to not stop or park on the yellow zig zag lines outside the schools. This is something which has been causing some difficulties recently. These lines are there for safety reasons and stopping or parking on these lines is prohibited.

Don’t forget to subscribe to our online school calendar. Our calendar is the place where you can check for events, term dates and INSET days.

  • Weekly roundup – Infant school

    Fri 10 Dec 2021

Well, the performances went off in a spectacular fashion. The children did a marvellous job learning and singing all the songs and the children with speaking parts spoke clearly and confidently and we are so proud of them all. There were a couple of bumps in the road (behind the scenes) with absent Mary’s! Well done to Jennifer and Amelia who stepped up to fill the roles at the last minute.

Father Christmas also managed to spare a couple of days to visit us too! The children were so excited, and it was absolutely magical seeing the looks on their faces. The nursery children were so pleased with the gift they received that some children were still clutching their books the next day. A huge thank you to Father Christmas for spending his precious time with us.

Another huge thanks this week goes to the PTA who against all odds pulled off a fantastic Christmas Fair. The lights around the school, the fire and marshmallows in Pauls Garden, the stalls and games all added up to creating a festive and buzzing Christmas fair. I personally loved seeing the children hunting for Christmas characters, singing carols with the band, and playing in the snow!

Amongst all these festivities the children have still been hard at it with their learning. This term the children in Kenya and Zambia class have been becoming our very own MasterChef’s in their science learning. They have been finding out about different food groups and then looked to create recipes for a balanced and healthy diet. They have been busy making their own cupcakes and sandwiches. Thank you for mine - it was delicious!

One last piece of information that’s not festive or linked to learning but is very important.

A polite reminder to not stop or park on the yellow zig zag lines outside the schools. These lines are there for safety reasons and we need to make sure that children can enter and exit the school site safely.

We hope you all have a good rest over the weekend and return Monday ready for the last week of term where we’ll be continuing with the festivities with Christmas Jumper day and Christmas Lunch amongst others.
