  • Infant Weekly Roundup

    Fri 18 Nov 2022

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    Weekly roundup – Infants

Kindness -This year’s National Antibullying week theme

This week has been Kindness week where children have been thinking about how we can help ourselves and each other to have a happy time at school. On Monday the children came into school in odd socks to show that we are all different and we explored how we celebrate our differences in our school community.

Robyn said, ‘All my friends are kind to me because they play with me. I go swimming with Murphy, that’s kind.’

Hillary said, ‘The message is Be kind to each other. I’m kind by helping my friends if they get hurt.’

Gabriel said, ‘It’s celebrating people’s differences. At school we have the Caring Code to help us. I’ve shared my football medals with my friends.’

We are proud of how caring our children are at St Saviours and we let them know each day that we will always listen if they have any worries or problems that are making them feel sad.

We like to support our children’s interests outside of school and we have received a message from Beavers.

Larkhall Beaver Scouts (21st Bath) looking for new members

What are Beavers? Beaver Scouts are the youngest Section of the Scouting family, children may join Beavers the term they turn 6 until they are 8 years old, at which point they have the opportunity to move up to Cubs.

What do Beavers do? The children undertake a wide variety of activities based around making things, outdoor activities, singing, playing games, going out on visits, investigating nature, listening to stories, learning how to be safe and most importantly, making friends. They also work towards gaining badges.

Where do Larkhall Beavers meet? We are based in the Scout Hut on Charlcombe Lane and meet each Thursday during term time, 6-7pm. We currently are looking for new members to join our “Colony” in the New Year. • Wonder Works of Art

    Thu 17 Nov 2022

    Hello from Wonder Class,

Here are some photos of the artwork we created using the jazz music of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers.

We are studying Jazz in music and wanted to experience some other types of jazz - not a genre of music that we had listened to before.

  • Glitter, blocks, tacks and wands!

    Thu 17 Nov 2022

As part of our 'Celebrations topic' we are looking at the Hindu festival of Diwali this week. On Monday we heard the story of Ram and Sita and all had a chance to talk about the story. We retold the story using people, animals and big blocks. On Tuesday we looked at how Hindu's get ready for Diwali and tomorrow we shall see how it is celebrated and will make links with celebrations that we have experienced.
We are using our fine-motor skills to make diva lamps out of clay, decorate mehndi hand patterns and can make rangoli patterns with tap-a-shape!
Chat with your child to find out what they have most enjoyed!

  • Out and about!

    Thu 17 Nov 2022

Years 1 and 2 went for a walk around Larkhall looking for human and physical features as part of their geography learning.

  • Inspiring Artists

    Thu 17 Nov 2022

Year 3 and 4 have been studying art by Henri Rousseau and Frederick Catherwood as part of their Rainforests of Central America and the amazing Ancient Mayans topic.  We combined ideas from both of the artists to create these images.

  • Junior Weekly roundup

    Sat 12 Nov 2022

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    Weekly Roundup – Junior School

It’s been another busy week with lots of different activities taking place. To share just a few:

    Assembly and Remembrance

We have been continuing to think about our school value of Respect in assemblies this week, and reflecting on why people show respect for people (and animals) who played a role in World War One. We have discussed the 4 different types of poppies people may choose to wear: red for remembrance and hope, white for peace, purple to honour animals (horses, dogs and even pigeons!) who were part of the war effort and black, to remember contributions of Black, African and Caribbean communities to the war. We thought specifically about George Strong, former Headteacher at St Saviour’s, who fought in the war, and discussed the ledger he completed at school about this time. Did you know we have a war memorial in the library at the Juniors, showing the names of all the members of the Larkhall community who fought and died during the War.

    Year 6 Football tournament

The Year 6 girls who represented St Saviour’s at the football tournament on Thursday did a fantastic job! Miss Markwell said that staff there commented on how children from St Saviour’s were the most supportive (to each other and children from other teams) and showed the best team spirit. It was great to hear that they were saying to children on other teams, “Well done, you are such a good player, you are doing so well.” We are very proud of their efforts and kindness, and it is great to hear that this event has inspired one of the girls to join a football club! Click here and here to see pictures of the football tournament (and other exciting activities) on the Year 6 class pages. Thank you to Mrs Merrett who organised the event, and Miss Markwell who supported the children.

    Dates for your diary:

Don’t forget Parent’s Evening is coming up on Monday 14th November and Thursday 17th November.

Monday 14th November is also ODD SOCK DAY where we wear odd socks to kick off Anti-Bullying week – there is no donation required, just wear odd socks to show your support.
