  • End of year message from our Co-Chairs of Governors

    Tue 19 Jul 2022

    Dear Parents/Carers,

We have finally made it into the last week of 21/22! We wanted to reflect on some of the fantastic achievements of this academic year:

As a Governing team, we have watched the school come back to life – in person and more alive than ever! We have loved being able to come back into school and see for ourselves the fantastic work that is taking place. Through Pupil and Staff voice, Curriculum team meetings, Full Governing body meetings taking place in school, learning walks, assemblies and much more, we as Governors are able to see first-hand - the values embedded within school life, the purpose and excitement of learning and motivated pupils striving to do their very best.

Unfortunately, as well as having to say goodbye to staff members, we also have to say a fond farewell to two of our long-standing Governors - Jo Jenkinson and Chris Hall. Their commitment, desire to achieve the very best and exceptional skills and expertise will be very much missed within our team.

Finally, we wanted to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who continues to help make the school a valuable part of our local community; from across the PTA, church, volunteers and of course the fantastic families that all contribute to making St Saviours such a fun place for the pupils to learn and grow – THANK YOU!

As always, please take a look at our Governor’s page on the school website for more information about who’s who and our roles within the school community:

We hope you have a wonderful Summer,

    Amy and Danielle

  • Family Thrive

    Fri 15 Jul 2022

Last night Mrs Simmons ran the final session of the Family Thrive course for this year. Supported by Sophie and Sara, Mrs Simmons has been talking with participants about child development and brain development, sharing activities and techniques to support children manage big feelings and practicing using the Thrive approach. It has been lovely to share this Thrive journey with our participants, and great to hear some of the positive feedback from families who attend the course. Thank you to all of the participants, and congratulations on receiving your Family Thrive certificates last night.

"A really useful and inspiring course led brilliantly by Jenni. The techniques shared have been/ will be great to apply to help at home. The explanation of how our brain develops was very informative and helped in my understanding of how best to help my son."

"Thank you so much it's been brilliant - vital really. It has helped me to separate my child from their behaviour, something which I was finding difficult before, and has helped me to match my child where they are at. The behaviour detective sheet is a really positive way of reflecting as it can be easy for adult's feelings to spiral. The course has helped me notice things about my child and make adaptations to their routine which have been really helpful. The knowledge is there - now I need to make my own right choices in the moment 🙂"

  • Goodbye Ms Birkett

    Thu 14 Jul 2022

Ms Birkett is moving on to new adventures after over 25 years teaching at the school. Over the years, Ms Birkett has taught hundreds of children who have all benefitted from her kind and supportive approach. Ms Birkett has been instrumental in some important projects at the Junior School, including:

    - leading the Erasmus Plus Project over many years, linking St Saviour’s with schools, educators and pupils across Europe whilst all working towards a common project goal (formerly known as Commenius),

-introducing rescue chickens to the school site (complete with knitted coats and a special coup!)

-leading successful teams of School Councillors, giving children a voice to discuss and share ideas surrounding children’s rights

Amelia in her class said, “Ms Birkett is really caring and she listens to people,” and Jude in her class said, “She gives help and takes care of people- she gives us the right things to do 😊.”

We wish Ms Birkett every happiness in the future – she has been a dedicated teacher, colleague and friend to the whole St Saviour’s community and will certainly be missed.

  • Goodbye Miss Noad

    Thu 14 Jul 2022

We will be saying goodbye to Miss Noad at the end of this term. Miss Noad has worked at the Juniors for 3 years and is a fantastic teacher – we will miss her lots as she jets off to work in Abu Dhabi! During her time working at St Saviours, she has supported Infant and Junior children through lockdown, had lots of fun with two year groups on residential at Swanage, organised fun activities such as the Year 6 Play and has been a wonderful support to all of the children and families she has worked with.

Amy in her class said, “Miss Noad is really good as a teacher and really good at Maths. I will miss her.” Alim said, “Thank you for being a really nice teacher this year. I hope you have a really lovely time in Abu Dhabi and have fun with the new kids that you teach.”

We wish Miss Noad lots of luck as she moves on to new adventures – we know she will be brilliant!
